Muscular Dystrophy Association Selected as a Finalist at the 9th Annual Shorty Impact Awards
New York, October 21, 2024 – Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has been shortlisted for the 9th Annual Shorty Impact Awards for the #AccessibleAirTravel Campaign in the ‘Call to Action’ Category, showcasing its efforts to drive positive change with innovative digital work.
MDA’s #AccessibleAirTravel campaign was created to raise awareness, garner public support, and influence legislative action to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in air travel by passing the 2023/2024 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization. The project leveraged unfiltered videos that showed the stark realities faced by air travelers with disabilities, reaching millions and driving legislation to be passed, the most significant improvement in air travel for people living with disabilities in nearly 40 years. By focusing on the stories of advocates and using influencers to share their vulnerable experience traveling with the world, MDA and their advocates created a meaningful impact, making #AccessibleAirTravel a strong contender for the Shorty Impact Awards.
“We’re proud that Muscular Dystrophy Association’s #AccessibleAirTravel campaign is a finalist for the Shorty Impact Awards. This recognition highlights the power of digital storytelling in driving social impact. We’re grateful to our advocates and honored to be among organizations driving positive change,” said Morgan Roth, Chief Marketing Officer, Muscular Dystrophy Association.
“Being shortlisted for a Shorty Impact Award reflects not just creativity but a commitment to drive meaningful impact,” said Junmian Sun, Managing Director of the Shorty Awards. Winners are selected by the Real Time Academy, including industry leaders from notable brands and organizations like Bumble, Liquid Death, Meta, Netflix, Digitas, Lenovo, Edelman, LinkedIn and more. We look forward to announcing the winners at the Shorty Impact Awards ceremony on November 20, 2024, at The Belasco in Los Angeles.
