Sailormen Inc. Kicks off Annual “Appetite for a Cure” Campaign to Help MDA Fuel the Fight for Muscle Health

#Appetite4aCure

MIAMI, Jan. 28, 2015 — Sailormen Inc., the largest domestic franchisee of  Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association today announced the kickoff of the 13th annual “Appetite for a Cure” campaign that will raise critical funds and awareness to help MDA save and improve the lives of children and adults fighting muscle disease.

Beginning Feb. 2 through March 22, more than 130 participating Sailormen/Popeyes restaurants in South Florida and across the Southeast will invite patrons to purchase $1 coupon cards worth $30 to be used toward free and discounted purchases during a future visit.

“The ‘Appetite for a Cure’ campaign with Sailormen/Popeyes has been successful for more than a decade due to the generosity of its dedicated employees and loyal patrons, who are committed to raising vital funds that will make a real difference in the lives of people fighting muscle disease across the Southeast,” said MDA Executive Director Tina Dietrich. “It is their unyielding support that makes it possible for us to invest in lifesaving MDA research and support programs for the families we serve.”

Combined funds raised through last year’s “Appetite for a Cure” campaign and the 10th annual Sailormen Inc. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Golf Classic totaled a record-breaking $703,034 to support MDA’s programs of research and health care services, as well as MDA summer camp.

“By simply adding a $1 ‘Appetite for a Cure’ coupon card to your Sailormen/Popeyes order this winter, you support MDA families affected by muscle disease who depend on these funds to help find research breakthroughs,” said Bob Berg, CEO of Sailormen Inc. “Sailormen is proud to be part of the progress that will bring us closer to a world free of the harmful effects of muscle disease, and we hope to make 2015 the most successful year yet.”

The annual coupon program provides Sailormen/Popeyes customers with great discounts while helping MDA build on decades of research progress as it pushes science to its limits in the search for treatments and cures.

The dollars raised during the campaign also will help support MDA’s life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and clinics, and make MDA summer camp possible so kids with muscle disease can enjoy “the best week of the year.”
