Muscular Dystrophy Association Kicks Off Fundraiser with Bojangles’®

Charlotte, N.C. (March 12, 2019) – This week, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Bojangles’ Restaurants, Inc. – the iconic restaurant brand with more than 750 locations across the Southeast – launched its annual “Shamrocks Against Dystrophy” in-store fundraising campaign.

Through Sunday, March 24, Bojangles’ invites customers to support MDA by purchasing a Shamrock at participating locations for $1 or $5. The critical funds raised go to research and services for kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases in MDA Care Centers and MDA Summer Camps. Customers put their names or honor others with their names on each Shamrock, and then they are displayed in the restaurant.

“We are extremely grateful to Bojangles’ for their continued support of local MDA families,” said Meagan Griffith, MDA Development Coordinator. “We are seeing accelerated research breakthroughs for our MDA families due to the incredible dedication from Bojangles’ and their commitment to transforming the lives of people living with neuromuscular diseases.”

“The Bojangles’ team has an unrelenting passion for the MDA’s life-changing work, and we are thankful that our customers share our enthusiasm,” said Ken Reynolds, Corporate Community Affairs Director for Bojangles’. “We look forward to another successful fundraiser to ensure hundreds of children across the Southeast enjoy the week of a lifetime at MDA Summer Camp.”

The Shamrocks campaign proceeds from Bojangles’ supports MDA’s innovative research and care, including a week-long summer camp experience for children living with neuromuscular disease. MDA Summer Camp features traditional camp activities such as arts and crafts, fishing, horseback riding, and swimming in a setting specifically designed for children who have limited mobility.

In 2018 alone, Bojangles’ helped raise more than $600,000 and throughout MDA’s 21-year partnership with Bojangles’, the company’s employees, customers and various donors have contributed more than $6 million toward life-changing research and summer camp experiences.

About MDA

MDA is committed to transforming the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases. We do this through innovations in science and innovations in care. As the largest source of funding for neuromuscular disease research outside of the federal government, MDA has committed more than $1 billion since our inception to accelerate the discovery of therapies and cures. Research we have supported is directly linked to approved, life-changing therapies across multiple neuromuscular diseases. We support the largest network of multidisciplinary clinics providing best-in-class care at more than 150 of the nation’s top medical institutions, and each year thousands of children and young adults learn vital life skills and gain independence at MDA Summer Camp and through recreational programs.
