This CE-accredited Grand Rounds webinar focused on Congenital Myopathies features Kaitlin Batley, MD, Zurisadai Gonzalez Castillo, MD and Susan T. Iannaccone, MD, FAAN of UT Southwestern Medical Center. This webinar will cover the core clinical features and pathophysiology of these diseases, standards of care and clinical management, and will explore the current clinical research landscape and therapies on the horizon.
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
● Recognize the signs and symptoms of the different congenital myopathies.
● Identify the testing modalities to utilize when encountering a patient with a suspected congenital myopathy.
● Recognize the role of genetic testing in increasing the accuracy of diagnosis and optimizing patient care.
● Recognize the role of multidisciplinary care in optimizing outcomes for congenital myopathy patients.
● Refer congenital myopathy patients to relevant specialists in a timely manner.
● Incorporate recent advances in clinical studies into patient care and provide guidance on the benefits of and opportunities for participation in congenital myopathy research.
