National Association of Letter Carriers

The National Association of Letter Carriers is the representing union of professional members of the United States Postal Service who deliver mail to homes and businesses across the United States. In 1952, NALC became MDA’s first national sponsor and declared it the NALC’s official charity. The Union’s first campaign to raise funds for MDA was its “Porch Light Brigade,” an all-volunteer door-to-door effort by letter carriers Thanksgiving week, 1953. Since that time, the NALC has remained faithful to its commitment to help save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease, raising countless millions which have, and continue to, advance MDA’s mission.

NALC raises money for MDA through Bowl-a-Thons, Muscle Walks and letter writing campaigns, making a critical difference for the many neighbors living with muscle disease its members deliver mail to year-round.

“For more than 70 years, NALC’s partnership with MDA has never wavered. Through collective action and teamwork, letter carriers have made a difference for those living with neuromuscular diseases and their families. We’re proud to partner with MDA in our effort to Deliver the Cure.”
