The Muscular Dystrophy Association Medical Advisors provide expert medical and clinical guidance to support the organization’s mission, programs, and strategic priorities. Led by Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Barry Byrne, the advisory group includes Dr. Diana Bharucha-Goebel, Dr. John Day, Dr. Matthew Harms, and Dr. Julie Parsons.
The Medical Advisors help guide the MDA Care Center Network, review Care Center applications, advance standards of care, participate in strategic planning, and provide clinical expertise on mission-related initiatives including MDA Summer Camp, disease list reviews, public relations efforts, and other organizational priorities. Their role is advisory, and they serve as independent contractors to MDA.
