TUCSON, Ariz. — The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s latest round of grants allocates more than $12 million to the support of 38 research projects investigating the causes of, and potential treatments for, a number of forms of neuromuscular disease.
A drawing by Dhruv Prasad, of Dublin, Ohio, has been accepted into the Muscular Dystrophy Association Art Collection. Now in its 20th year, the Collection features artwork by people from across the country with muscular dystrophy and related disorders.

Charash, M.D., a pediatric neurologist who was an early advocate for children with neuromuscular diseases, a volunteer leader of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for more than 50 years and former New York City Department of Health Chief of Orthopedics, died Wednesday night in Plainview, N.Y. He was 84.
