MDA Summer Camp

Join us for a life-changing week!

MDA Summer Camp is a magical place of complete inclusion, empowerment, exploration, and growth. The magic is in the experience of trying something new, developing friendships that last a lifetime, learning to self-advocate, and harnessing potential.

Each summer, kids and young adults with neuromuscular disease attend these life-changing, overnight camps around the U.S. - at no cost to their families, thanks to our generous supporters.

Become a Camp Volunteer

If you’re 17 or older and available for a multi-day, residential camp, we'd love for you to apply to join us as a volunteer counselor or medical staff member! Volunteer Counselors are by Campers’ sides day and night so that they can do all the fun activities that summer camp offers. Medical Team members supervise and maintain the health and well-being of our campers by administering medications, delivering first aid, and more. In addition to bringing joy to campers, this fantastic opportunity allows each volunteer to gain high-quality, field-based experience in physical therapy, occupational therapy, medical professions, education, recreation, and family social sciences, as well as earning volunteer hours.

Send Your Child to Camp

MDA strives for every camp session to provide a true camp experience, including connecting with the outdoors, developing life skills, building lifelong friendships, and providing opportunities to try new things. When kids attend MDA Summer Camp, they gain independence as they spend time away from home, learn to accept personal care from someone other than their parents or caregivers, develop greater self-esteem and confidence, and spend time with other kids who understand what it’s like to live with neuromuscular disease.

Each camp includes dedicated volunteer health professionals and trained camp volunteers who meet every child’s medical and physical needs. This team assumes all camper care, including physical and emotional support, providing parents with the opportunity for respite.

Camp is available to kids and young adults who have been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease. Both in-person and virtual sessions are available each summer. Campers can participate in one camp session each year, selecting the session that best meets their interest and needs.
