CHICAGO, July 22, 2014 – The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Jiffy Lube today announced the kickoff of the third annual MUSCLE UP campaign that will raise funds to help save and improve the lives of more than one million Americans fighting muscle disease.
As part of the campaign, Jiffy Lube invites drivers to visit participating Jiffy Lube service centers through Sept. 1, 2014 to make a donation to MDA, enabling the organization to continue to make progress in the fight for muscle health. Since 2012, Jiffy Lube has raised more than $2 million for MDA through the MUSCLE UP campaign, and with this year’s campaign it aims to raise an additional $1 million.
“The Jiffy Lube MUSCLE UP campaign has been successful due to the generosity of our dedicated franchisees and loyal customers who are committed to raising not only awareness, but also vital funds needed to help find treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and related diseases,” said Jiffy Lube International President Steven C. Ledbetter. “We’re proud to fuel the fight against muscle disease and help support the individuals and families served by MDA.”
The MUSCLE UP campaign emphasizes the parallels between the body’s muscles and a vehicle’s engine – both require care and maintenance to perform to their fullest potential. This summer, Jiffy Lube customers can make a $3 donation to MDA at participating service centers across the country. In return, donors will receive a MUSCLE UP savings book containing more than $100 in savings from Jiffy Lube as well as coupons from Gap®, Michaels® Arts & Crafts, Famous Footwear® and Aeropostale®.
Funds raised through savings book donations will directly benefit MDA families and help support MDA's programs of research and health care services as well as send children affected by muscle disease to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp each year at no cost to their families.

Additionally during the six-week campaign, an online donation component will help increase awareness. For each new fan who “Likes” the Jiffy Lube corporate Facebook page between July 22 and Sept. 1, Jiffy Lube will donate $1 to MDA (up to $10,000).
