| Equipment Assistance
MDA assists individuals with obtaining durable medical equipment through its national equipment loan program and referrals to community resources.
Many federal, state and local resources exist to assist individuals with equipment purchases. Local MDA offices maintain an extensive database of resources available in your area. People registered with MDA can contact their local MDA office at (800) 572-1717 to be connected with knowledgeable staff who can help navigate the equipment purchase process.
MDA’s national equipment loan program is open to anyone — regardless of age, education or employment status — for whom durable medical equipment has been recommended by an MDA clinic doctor.
To the extent feasible and when available, the program provides good-condition recycled wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment medically prescribed in relation to an individual’s neuromuscular disease. This includes shower chairs, hospital beds, patient lifts, walkers and canes, communication devices and similar equipment.
Through its local field offices, MDA gratefully accepts donations of durable medical equipment for distribution through its equipment loan program. MDA is able to make minor repairs to gently used equipment. |
