muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:07:57 PM)
hey JD. don't tell me it's just us again!?
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:08:22 PM)
looks like it muz....lol
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:08:36 PM)
How are ya doin?
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:09:23 PM)
maybe we'll get some straglers. doing ok. out of work again so the next 10 days is basically a wash looking for a gig
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:10:16 PM)
you could become a renegade writer for the tonight show......lol
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:10:47 PM)
you get hit with that snowstorm last weekend? luckily we're far enough south that we didn't really get any of that nasty stuff the midwest got
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:11:07 PM)
you mean a "scab"
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:11:26 PM)
isn't that what they used to call those that crossed the picket line?
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:11:35 PM)
got about a foot Sunday and sunday night but we handled it very well
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:12:00 PM)
well in the old days yes.
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:12:14 PM)
i think most of the late night talk shows are coming back on the air after the first of the year. but no monologues, etc.
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:12:31 PM)
even got to use the snowblower on my garden tractor
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:12:52 PM)
i've never even seen a snow blower in person! =)
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:13:55 PM)
the interesting part is all those late night hosts were standup comics before they got into television so I wouldn't think they would neeed writers anyway
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:14:58 PM)
my is in the garage so the only problem I have is getting to the garage to get on it ,it is an older case and throws snow 30 ft
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:15:33 PM)
has hand controls so I can operate it
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:15:37 PM)
yeah that's true. but to write enough material for every night of the week would be extremely tough. think about all the stuff they write that never makes it out of the writer's room
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:16:29 PM)
you need a remote snow blower so you can operate it from inside the house through the window!
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:16:36 PM)
ahh they could make fun of Bush 24/7 just use his press conferences....lol
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:16:50 PM)
yeah, letterman's good at that
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:17:04 PM)
hey, that would be way cool
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:18:12 PM)
don't see why they couldn't come up with that they make remote starters for cars
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:19:01 PM)
i was looking for a ball with a rope attached to play fetch with my dad's dog. he rarely brings it back so i thought there would be something like that out there but couldn't find anything. i ended up finding a ball of twine that sort of worked until he chewed through it
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:19:31 PM)
yeah my buddy used to remotely start his Lexus in the winter when he lived in St. Louis
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:21:04 PM)
i've only lived in Dallas, Austin and LA so i've never had to deal with that thankfully
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:21:07 PM)
I bought one for my wife for Christmas that starts the car and turns the heater/Ac and the fan on or off.well supposedly,we will see after they install it on the 28th
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:21:40 PM)
cool. hope it works
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:22:33 PM)
we got ice the day after thanksgiving and she crawled thru the trunk and backseat to get in and start it to get the doors thawed out to open
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:23:50 PM)
ha that's funny. my dad had trouble getting in his car up in Missouri or Misery as I call it
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:24:24 PM)
a lot of problems in mo.
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:25:09 PM)
we usually get those problems ,three or four times a yar
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:25:41 PM)
haven't had the van doors freeze up yet tho
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:26:12 PM)
you have a conversion van and a truck(?) right? i drive an Isuzu Rodeo which I love. it's the perfect height to get in and out of. i'm starting to really not like riding in friend's or family member's low riding cars. how do you do getting in and out of those things?
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:26:35 PM)
my hoveround dosen't go well in snow tho ,all it wants to do is go around in circles
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:28:36 PM)
I have the same problems with cars and my truck is the right height, but needs so much work that I am looking for another and the only way I can get in and out of the van is on the hoveround or scooter and then transfer into the drivers seat
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:31:53 PM)
ah, guess that works out pretty good with the hoveround. i have to kind of straigtleg it and push myself up out of the seat. and the backseats are even more difficult in those ultracompact cars. most of the time I just offer to drive folks instead
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:35:43 PM)
we screwed up when we bought the wifes Sable w/bucket seats ,we should have had the dealer get us one with bench seats,I don't think I could get out of the sable to save my soul,I drove it once and that was the test drive and it took a half hour for me to get out and that was a couple years ago
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:36:37 PM)
only trouble with the van is it gets horrible gas mileage
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:37:26 PM)
yeah i feel like i'm a couple inches off the ground if i drive or ride in a car. i used to have to borrow my sister's little toyota when i would visit.
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:38:47 PM)
yeah i noticed that Saturn has a new hybrid SUV. i ordered a catalogue for it but don't plan on getting a new one for a while
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:38:57 PM)
I used to only have full sized Pontiacs
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:40:05 PM)
the problem with hybrids is they are so much higher priced that even with the gas savings it would take 25 yrs. to make it pay off
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:40:19 PM)
yeah my dad likes Chryslers and Pontiacs.
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:41:00 PM)
you're right on that point
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:42:22 PM)
seems like the 3rd Wed. of the month is too close to the holidays in Nov. and Dec. messes up the chat I think
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:46:53 PM)
I think the biggest deterent is the hassle getting into chat ,I have talked to people with beckers in other chats and invited them to come to chat and a lot of them don't think it is worthy the hassle or just can,t get in ,I am co-host on a few other chats and it is the same story,I'd bet chat attendance is down 50% since the chat server was changed
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:47:56 PM)
that's a shame.
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:48:53 PM)
oh i wanted to tell everyone that the DVD to that Duchenne documentary is available now. i pre-ordered it a couple months ago. http://www.dariusgoeswest.com/film.html
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:49:29 PM)
should be out on cable at some point next year so i'll keep you posted
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:51:25 PM)
they had darius and his friends that took him on the trip on one of the tv talk shows a week or two ago, thanks for the website
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:52:19 PM)
the film has cleaned up at the film fesitvals - 25 awards and counting. i think it won the "Audience Choice" award in almost every one it played
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:52:59 PM)
cool, they claim that they are going to take another trip
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:53:52 PM)
i actually got many of my friends to donate to Charley's Fund (where all the proceeds of the film go) instead of the Labor Day telethon this year
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:54:05 PM)
I guess his brother was actually the one behind the trip idea
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:56:10 PM)
yeah i think that was part of it. the director promised darius' brother that he would look after darius after he passed. i wanted to go see it again last month at another film festival but wasnt' able to make it
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:57:01 PM)
i'm still curious what cable net it will premiere on . i'm guessing sundance or IFC
jd-tractor (Dec 19, 2007 9:57:41 PM)
don't know much about the cable networks
muziqluva (Dec 19, 2007 9:59:52 PM)
well, i think i'm gonna wrap it up. tired of sitting in my office chair. need to walk around and then find the comfy couch. merry xmas and a happy new year to you and your fam. we're gonna get bored of talking to each other if no one else ever show up. take care
