I'm surrounded by doctors and I'm actually excited about it! I'm attending the 2014 MDA Clinical Conference where MDA clinicians and other health professionals are learning the newest and shiniest information about the treatment of neuromuscular diseases.
The conference started with a talk by Dr. Charles Thornton, who talked about the future of treatment of neuromuscular diseases and the exciting advances in pharmaceutical agents that he sees on the horizon. He talked about researchers having found the chinks in the armor of neuromuscular diseases and his belief that treatments are on the way. He also talked about the major focus of the conference being treatments that are currently available, such as the durable medical equipment that makes all of our lives easier.
It is very exciting to be a part of such an enthusiastic group of medical professionals who are looking toward the present and the future. I'm excited to be reporting on the happenings of this conference and the issues that are pertinent to my life and other people living with neuromuscular diseases. If only I could read these people’s handwriting!
